Trustwave Database Security Solution Recognized By Leading Insurers for Reducing Cyber Risk
Posted: Wed Sep 25, 2019 10:07:14 AM

CHICAGO – September 25, 2019 – Trustwave today announced that Trustwave DbProtect, its enterprise database security scanning, testing and activity monitoring software that helps protect critical data assets hosted on-site or by cloud service providers, has been designated a Cyber Catalyst solution in the inaugural round of the Cyber Catalyst by Marsh? program. Organizations deploying Trustwave DbProtect may qualify for enhanced terms and conditions on cyber insurance policies from a wide variety of participating global insurers.

In a crowded cybersecurity market, it’s difficult for enterprises to evaluate which solutions provide the greatest value. Cyber Catalyst is a first-of-its-kind program, giving organizations greater clarity and confidence in choosing cybersecurity solutions that can have a meaningful impact on cyber risk. In the program, leading cyber insurers evaluated and voted independently on solutions that are most effective in reducing risk.

Out of over 150 cybersecurity products and services evaluated, only 17 received the Cyber Catalyst designation. Trustwave DbProtect was chosen based on its ability to quickly identify and help remediate configuration errors, access control issues, unauthorized privilege escalation and missing patches as well as contend with advanced threats across diverse environments.

“In the highly complex cybersecurity marketplace, Cyber Catalyst gives business leaders greater clarity and confidence in their cybersecurity choices,” said Tom Reagan, US Cyber Practice Leader at Marsh, which created the Cyber Catalyst program. “We’re excited to showcase leading-edge solutions like Trustwave DbProtect, which was identified by participating insurers as able to have a meaningful impact on cyber risk.”

Insurers participating in the program include: Allianz, AXIS, AXA XL, a division of AXA, Beazley, CFC, Munich Re, Sompo International and Zurich North America. Product evaluation was based on six key criteria including the ability to reduce cyber risk, key performance indicators, client-use cases and successful implementation, efficiency and ease of use, broad application to the market and distinguishing features. Microsoft served as technical advisor to the program.

“We are honored that Trustwave DbProtect has been selected for the Cyber Catalyst program,” said Tom Powledge, senior vice president of product management at Trustwave. “Our database security solution went through stringent, independent evaluation by insurers who are well-positioned to provide informed views through firsthand accounts dealing with the most catastrophic and costly cyber events of the past decade. By offering market-leading features that protect enterprises of all sizes and in varying stages of digital transformation, Trustwave DbProtect is an asset for any cybersecurity program.”

Trustwave DbProtect is a highly scalable, comprehensive database security platform that delivers real-time visibility and protection to data housed across an organization’s entire footprint -- no matter if they have an on-site, hybrid or cloud environment or mix of environments the data traverses or resides. The software offers robust compliance management capabilities through constant monitoring for unusual data behaviors indicative of a breach or policy violations.

A new version of Trustwave DbProtect was recently released incorporating a redesigned interface to give users simple point-and-click navigation for viewing protected assets, discovering new assets, scheduling and managing scans and responding to alerts. A new tool called Exploration has been included providing users with a visual model of their current risk profile across their entire database portfolio. Exploration allows security teams to drill down to individual findings to pinpoint the threat, misconfiguration or user access issue putting data at risk. Additionally, the new release offers monitoring capabilities for six new asset types: SAP HANA, AWS Aurora MySQL, MongoDB, SQL 2017 on Windows, AWS RDS MySQL and Oracle 12 multi-tenant. This version also provides scan support for SAP HANA and Oracle 18.
